I Have Loved You For A Thousand Years
About this artwork
This painting is inspired by the Christina Perri song A Thousand Years which is one of my favourites. I love the depths of emotion expressed in this song with lyrics such as “I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more” and “ I have died everyday, waiting for you”. I set out to portray those feelings on canvas by using soft colours that flowed in to each other. I used the circle as a universal symbol of love and union and I added the silver and gold colours to symbolise precious metals. My intention for this painting is that it stands as a statement of the enduring strength and beauty of love.
It has layers of paint and texture. The paint is mixed with gloss medium which gives the painting a soft sheen. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and it is registered in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists. The sides are painted white and it is signed on the front.
