I See Your True Colours
About this artwork
This artwork is made from layers of acrylic paint with gloss medium and pencil on stretched canvas, ready to hang with a wire across the back.
It was inspired by the Cindi Lauper song True Colours. The lyrics in this song encourage us to be ourselves and to believe in our own internal beauty. Even if we might loose sight of that belief, others can still see it in us. I wanted to capture these sentiments by creating vibrant colours and shapes that are partially concealed yet still visible to symbolise the colours of our soul shining through. This was especially relevant as, during the painting, I used masking fluid to conceal part of the bold colours while I over painted the canvas and then removed it when the painting was near completion thus letting the colours “shine through”. A Certificate of authenticity is supplied along with details the painting’s registration in the National Registry of Australian Art and Artists.
