About this artwork

Seafarers Bridge is another painting in my Melbourne icon series. I am always impressed by this contemporary and elegant landmark structure whenever I visit Melbourne. The winner of a number of architecture awards, the bridge links the north and south banks of the Yarra River. Whilst walking across it recently, I was struck by the powerful composition this particular view of it offered. The painting utilises my characteristic hard edge style but features more muted tones than usual. The buildings and structures are simplified in order to lead the eye through the bridge and into the background. The painting is acrylic on stretched canvas, unframed with wide painted edges and is ready to hang.
