Tropical Longboard Fin
About this artwork
Watercolour and acrylic paint on Daniel Smith watercolour ground applied to wooden board.
"The waves whisper to me,
calling me to the soft sand.
The water sweeps over my feet,
surrounds where I stand."
(From "The Calling" by LonelyGirlxoxo)
Surfing and its culture has been a huge influence in my life. This surfboard fin and the way its shadow reflected begged me to paint it. This small artwork is strong in colour value, with a bright peachy toned background and brilliant blues in the fin and its reflection.
Painted onto a Wooden Board 12" x 12" made with a smooth blonde coloured plywood panel with pine bracing, ensuring a strong and warp resistant painting support. Coated with several layers of
Daniel Smith watercolour ground. (This ground allows me to use both watercolour and acrylic paint.)
Artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Kati Garrett Filho.
It has been sprayed with 2 protective archival mat varnish coats and then sealed with gloss gel medium. (No wire has been added as I imagine it framed with a drop frame. However, it can be hung with the cradle edge so could be displayed immediately.)
